Acer America Corporation has recalled lithium-ion batteries containing Sony-made cells used in their notebooks. The lithium-ion batteries can overheat and poses a fire hazard.
Only batteries with certain part numbers and battery week codes and used in certain Acer notebook models are included in the recall. Visit their Battery Exchange Program [Note: URL no longer working.] page to figure out if your battery is part of the recall.
Stop using the battery and contact Acer to receive a free replacement. Acer can be reached at (800) 503-2330.
