Ah yes, boys must have their toys, but you know what? Webchix like toys too! One toy that I’ve been eyeing lately is the Amazon Kindle. I must say I’ve put off looking at an e-book reader mostly because I really like reading books. I enjoy actually turning pages, skipping back to something I may have missed and just sticking my nose deep into a book that can take me away from everything for those 30 minutes or so a night.
Well, Amazon’s done an awesome job of reminding me to take a look at their reader every time I go to their site! I finally gave in and took a look at their specs and description. I even turned on my speakers (something I rarely do) and watched the video. I have to say I was impressed. It looks like the perfect new toy for this webchix! One of the biggest plusses is that the reader is actually legible outside in the sun. Great for taking to the park, beach, or even my backyard. Some of the features which caught my eye are:
- Revolutionary electronic-paper display provides a sharp, high-resolution screen that looks and reads like real paper.
- Simple to use: no computer, no cables, no syncing.
- Wireless connectivity enables you to shop the Kindle Store directly from your Kindle – whether you’re in the back of a taxi, at the airport, or in bed.
- Buy a book and it is auto-delivered wirelessly in less than one minute.
- Long battery life. Leave wireless on and recharge approximately every other day. Turn wireless off and read for a week or more before recharging. Fully recharges in 2 hours.
- Unlike WiFi, Kindle utilizes the same high-speed data network (EVDO) as advanced cell phones – so you never have to locate a hotspot.
- No monthly wireless bills, service plans, or commitments – Amazon takes care of the wireless delivery so you can simply click, buy, and read.
Now to make this even more enticing Amazon is offering $100 off your purchase when you get the Amazon.com Rewards Visa card. Plus the usual free shipping, if you can actually wait a day or so to get it!
If anyone out there already has one of these in their possession I would absolutely LOVE to hear what you think of it. Is it really worth the $359 (or $259 if you follow the instructions here and go with the Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card)? Tell me everything, the good, the bad & the ugly!
