Blizzard Entertainment, developer of World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft games, has fallen victim to a system hack.
Mike Morhaime posted in his security notice:
This week, our security team found an unauthorized and illegal access into our internal network here at Blizzard. We quickly took steps to close off this access and began working with law enforcement and security experts to investigate what happened.
There is no evidence that financial information was compromised. However, email addresses, scrambled passwords, personal security questions, and more was illegally accessed.
Users will be prompted to change their information via an automated process. Blizzard also warns of phishing emails and reminds their customers that they never ask for passwords in emails.
